Local distribution companies provide essential services by delivering safe and reliable electricity to homes and businesses in the communities within the City of Brantford, the City of Cambridge, the County of Brant and the Township of North Dumfries. Their distribution rates and many of their business practices are regulated by the Ontario Energy Board.
Brantford Power operates and maintains an electricity distribution system serving more than 41,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers within the City of Brantford. The local utility has been committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity to customers since 1935. Brantford Power is focused on making continuous improvements and responsible investments across all aspects of its business, including employee and community safety, operational efficiency and reliability, asset management and innovation, and responsive customer service. They collaborate with industry partners to help reduce operating, maintenance and administration costs, and improve customer service. Brantford Power is a member of the Utilities Standards Forum and the GridSmartCity Cooperative. Brantford Power believes in giving back to the community and is proud of its long-standing partnerships with local organizations, with a focus on supporting health, safety, and access to daily necessities.

Energy+ Inc. experienced business growth and enhanced efficiencies through a successful acquisition of Brant County Power, and now delivers safe and reliable electricity to more than 68,000 customers in Cambridge, North Dumfries, Brant County and areas around Brantford. The electricity is delivered through local distribution of grid poles, wires and underground systems to meet the needs of their communities. The company also provides water/wastewater billing and collection services to customers in the County of Brant on behalf of the County of Brant. Energy+ Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors who are appointed by municipal shareholders, the City of Cambridge and the Township of North Dumfries. The utility’s mission is to deliver ideas, solutions and value-added services that benefit their customers, stakeholders and communities. Energy+ has an A/stable financial rating from Standard and Poor’s and is a recipient of 2020 The Business of the Year Award and a Spirit of Cambridge Award from the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, a Customer Service Excellence Award from the Electrical Distributor’s Association and was recognized as a Top Employer in Waterloo Area in 2020 and 2021.

Brantford Hydro Inc. is an unregulated company that is 100% owned by the Brantford Energy Corporation, which is owned 100% by the Corporation of the City of Brantford. Brantford Hydro offers a variety of services and products, including high‐speed fibre optic telecommunications connections through its NetOptiks division and rental water heaters, water softeners, furnaces, and central air conditioning systems through its Enersure brand.
NetOptiks is the fibre division of Brantford Hydro Inc. providing Brantford and Brant‐area businesses and institutions with innovative and custom solutions for data and voice services. Their local network delivers fast, reliable services that set them apart from other carriers. They are a market leader in Brantford and offer customers high‐speed, customizable, reliable and unlimited dedicated internet, managed voice and professional services to meet the unique needs of each business.
Enersure Home Comfort offers reliable and energy efficient rental units include water softeners, water heaters, furnaces and central air conditioning systems. Their current rental fleet consists of more than 4,500 units of combined gas/electric tankless water heaters, water softeners, furnaces and air conditioners.
Cambridge and North Dumfries Energy Solutions Inc. is an unregulated services company that oversees streetlight maintenance and business development activities. The company owns 33% interest in Grand River Energy Solutions Corporation (GRE), an unregulated generation and renewable energy solution company.
